Description
Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg owes one of its most important services of the 20th century to the architect and designer Wolfgang von Wersin. Designed along the lines of the “New Objectivity” movement , Wersin created the Adonis form for Nymphenburg, which remains one of the manufactory's most beautiful to this day. The light refracts in the fine grooved relief of the surface and makes the shards appear almost transparent in the play of light and shadow. The simplicity of the structure of the timelessly modern shape is emphasized by minimal painting. Designed in 1932 as a coffee service, Adonis was added to the repertoire of the master workshops as a complete dinner service in 1951/56. Executed with a matte biscuit or with a glazed rim; in plain white or with a fine stitch like decor in black, 24-carat fine gold or a custom color, Adonis embodies elegance to this day.
