The peacock, over 40 cm tall, designed by sculptor Theodor Kärner at the young age of 21, is one of the best-known and most outstanding animal figures made by Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg. Its elegant shape is equally visible in white bisque porcelain as it is painted in underglaze, a technique that was developed to the highest perfection in Nymphenburg at the beginning of the 20th century.
