Description
The animal repertoire of the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg alone comprises two dozen elephants. Most of them were designed by the Thuringian sculptor August Göhring. This includes this 23 centimetre majestic female elephant named Djamila. Since 2002 it has also been made in bisque porcelain in the master workshops. The unglazed body underlines the richness of detail of the expressive figure and the matt white surface brings out the sculptural qualities particularly well.
