Elephant trunk up

The animal repertoire of the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg encompasses two dozen elephants. Most of them were designed by the Thuringian sculptor August Göhring. When he took up his position as a modeller in Nymphenburg in 1914, he was fascinated by the aura of elephants, which he studied in great detail at Hellabrunn Zoo. Elephants are considered wise, strong and endowed with an extraordinary memory.
