Duke Franz
Duke Franz von Bayern has been the head of the House of Wittelsbach since 1996. In addition to representative tasks, he devotes himself to art and science. As a member of the board of trustees of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, the Deutsches Museum and since 1999 a member of the Academy of Sciences, he focuses his interest on knowledge of the natural sciences. Due to his extensive knowledge of art, he was appointed chairman of the Association for the Promotion of the Alte Pinakothek, became deputy chairman of the Galerieverein Munich and was appointed chairman of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. HRH Duke Franz von Bayern has been accompanying the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg since 1996, where new designs by internationally renowned artists and designers are presented annually.
