Wolfgang von Wersin was a pioneer of New Objectivity. His nearly 40-year collaboration with the passionate designer resulted in some of the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory's most significant designs of the 20th century. Among these is the "Orion" service, which Wolfgang von Wersin developed in 1947 to mark the manufactory's 200th anniversary. Typical of Wersin, the form initially captivates with its simplicity and a closed, gently curved contour. Only upon closer inspection does one discover the elegant, honeycomb-like relief that stretches like a fine, graphic network across the rims of plates, cups, bowls, and tureens. Wersin's ingenious design thus appeals to lovers of both tradition and modernity.
