Easy care Nymphenburg

Every product from the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory is crafted entirely by hand. Only pieces of the highest quality leave our house. They are durable and very easy to care for in everyday use, provided you keep the following in mind:
EXTRA TIP: Discolourations and stubborn stains can be effortlessly removed with a “magic eraser.” It works wonders!
01. White porcelain
02. Hand-painted porcelain
03. Metallic decorations
04. Historical pieces and artist originals
05. Figurines
06. Storage
07. Architecture Collection
08. Majolica figures and vessels
01. WHITE PORCELAIN
White porcelain, whether glazed or in biscuit, is dishwasher-safe. Most accidents occur when loading or unloading the machine, so take special care to ensure that no piece slips from your hand.
02. HAND-PAINTED PORCELAIN
Our hand-painted porcelain from current collections is also suitable for the dishwasher. The colours are fired at temperatures above 800°C. Even table flowers, vases, candleholders, and figurines can therefore be cleaned in the dishwasher without hesitation. Load the machine sparingly and make sure the pieces do not touch each other. Use mild detergents in small quantities. Often, the gentle or glass cycle is sufficient.
03. METALLIC DECORATIONS
Decorations painted with 24-karat gold or platinum can be cleaned in the dishwasher – but only on the gentle or glass cycle and with a mild detergent in low dosage. Please do not use dishwasher tabs.
IMPORTANT: Porcelain with metallic elements may not be placed in the microwave!
04. HISTORICAL PIECES AND ARTIST ORIGINALS
For cleaning historical pieces or artist originals, we recommend hand-washing: warm water and a soft cloth or sponge. This ensures you can enjoy your Nymphenburg favourites for many years.
05. FIGURINES
Figures, candlesticks, vases or table flowers can be cleaned as described above. Some pieces have production-related cavities in which water may collect during washing. Please allow each piece to dry completely before placing it on delicate surfaces!
06. STORAGE
Porcelain is almost as hard as a diamond, yet sensitive to impact. Ensure that individual pieces cannot knock against each other. When stacking, the “foot” of one piece should not rub against the surface of another. Place a layer of nonwoven material (felt or molton) or paper in between.
07. ARCHITECTURE COLLECTION
For regular cleaning, warm water and mild, biodegradable neutral cleaners are usually sufficient—strong or abrasive agents may damage the surface. For heavier soiling on tiles or washbasins, a slightly dampened magic eraser or a steam cleaner works very well.
08. MAJOLICA FIGURES AND VESSELS
Nymphenburg is renowned not only for porcelain but also for magnificent majolica figures and vessels. The clay is fired at over 1000°C and absorbs very little water afterwards – this makes our majolica pieces frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor use year-round. Over time, a weather-related patina or fine crazing in the glaze may occur. In case of exceptions for special commissions, we will of course inform you in advance.
