MY FAVOURITE PIECE: MODULATION IN WHITE Silent flight, silky plumage, focused gaze – with a little luck, you can now watch a barn owl hunting at dusk as it searches for mice along hedges and fences. With its ears hidden in its plumage, it can hear even the slightest rustle. Marian Lohoff from the moulding department has taken this mysterious bird to his heart – in its living version and in unglazed bisque porcelain. Its production is demanding: ‘The figure has to be supported with great care so that it doesn't tip over during firing,’ explains the owl fan. The details of the plumage, which are particularly striking on the unglazed bisque porcelain, also require precision and prudence. When the Munich-based artist works on his favourite piece, he resembles the barn owl, which remains patiently in its hiding place for hours until it takes off to hunt. |
