Urs Fischer: Dakis & Lietta (2021/22)
Until September 18, 2022, Museo Jumex in Mexico City will present a major solo show of Urs Fischer's works from the past 20 years under the title "Lovers." For the first time, works from public and private collections worldwide, as well as from the Swiss-born artist's archive, have been brought together with new works made for the exhibition; among them such prominent pieces as "The Lovers #2," a ten-meter-high monumental sculpture made of cast aluminum, partially gilded with gold leaf, or the recently completed sculpture "Dakis & Lietta" in patinated bronze and painted Nymphenburg porcelain. Amidst an eventful landscape of paintings, sculptures, installations, styles and messages spanning three floors, the wide-ranging creativity, humor and depth of playful creativity of one of the most exciting artists of our time is revealed. Many of the works on display, including the two mentioned above, were produced by the artist in collaboration with Kunstgiesserei St. Gallen.
